Last Wednesday was a big day for Audrey – her first haircut!  Her sweet baby curls were just getting too hard to keep tangle free.  She was a little nervous but gave Betty a big hug, climbed up in the chair, and held perfectly still the entire time.

Of course we ended with a trip to Feeney’s and a ride on Harry the Dragon.

One of my favorite parts of having two kids has been watching the relationship between Audrey and Owen grow.  It’s so fun to see the adoration in Owen’s eyes as he looks at Audrey and to see how happy it makes Audrey when she can make Owen laugh.  Audrey loves to get in Owen’s crib with him when he wakes up from his naps.  I toss a couple of toys in and they’re entertained for at least…three minutes!

Audrey was excited to go to her first dance lesson today.  I was a little worried she might get upset when she realized I wasn’t staying with her, but she ran right in without looking back.  Even though it was her first time she happily participated the entire time and can’t wait to go back next week!

It’s hard to believe that our little Tater is three years old! She requested a princess party, so on Saturday family and friends came to celebrate with magic wands and pink frosting.

After a fun afternoon of food, presents, cupcakes and lots of playing the princess reacted like any three year old would.

Thank you to all the big people and little people who came to celebrate our little girl with us. We are so grateful to have you in our lives!

Things are calming down around here after a very busy Christmas weekend.

Festivities kicked off with a visit from Gramps and Bubbie on the Friday before Christmas Eve. We had a great dinner of shrimp boil and Audrey and Owen got a great present…a new wagon! Audrey has already ridden in it on several occasions, and can’t stop talking about giving Wally (the dog) a ride.

On Christmas Eve, we went down to Asheboro to have dinner with Nanny, Uncle JJ and Emily. Christmas Eve dinner was a great spread that included Tomato Basil soup, numerous appetizers and Quiche. Audrey and Owen both received a bunch of presents including a pair of light up shoes for Audrey and new Christmas PJs for both of them!

Finally, on Christmas morning, we had a terrific Christmas breakfast at Gram and Pop’s house. Breakfast is always a big deal, and this year was no exception. We had sugar cake, sausage and biscuits, grits eggs and bacon with plenty of coffee. Once again, the kids picked up all kinds of great presents. Audrey received some Winnie the Pooh toys, books and clothes, while Owen got a couple of neat toys as well. For those who haven’t heard, the day took a somewhat crazy turn when instead of opening the packaging on Audrey’s present I opened up my wrist, which necessitated an unexpected trip to the ER. Everything is fine now though, and I am on the mend.

It was a great Christmas, and the whole family is really appreciative of all the great presents and grateful for having so many wonderful folks with which to spend the holidays.
